FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Guofuhee & Creative Platech Forge Partnership to Establish Hydrogen-Compatible Materials Industrial Base
Zhangjiagang, China – August 8, 2025 - A significant milestone in advancing hydrogen-compatible materials technology was marked today as Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. (Guofuhee) and Jiangsu Creative Platech New Material Technology Co., Ltd. (Creative Platech) formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province. Witnessed by key stakeholders, Mr. Wu Pinfang, Chairman of Guofuhee, and Mr. Li Xiaohua, Chairman of Creative Platech, solidified their commitment to jointly invest in building an industrial base dedicated to the R&D and production of cutting-edge hydrogen-compatible materials. The signing ceremony was notably attended by Prof. Gao Song, President of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who serves as the Science and Technology Advisor to Creative Platech. This partnership leverages the combined strengths of Academician-led technical expertise (particularly from SYSU) and the distinct resource advantages of both companies, aiming to propel the innovation and industrialization of critical materials for the hydrogen economy. Leveraging Breakthrough Technology: Creative Platech, established by Peking University and leading academic experts, brings its proprietary, transformative technology to the core of this venture: Nickel-based Catalytic Atomic & Layer Deposition (NCALD). This self-developed technology represents a disruptive breakthrough in hydrogen-compatible materials performance. Its significance has been recognized through prestigious awards: the 2024 China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Disruptive Technologies) Prize and the 2025 Yangtze River Delta National Technology Innovation Center Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition (New Materials Field) Gold Award. Furthermore, it has been formally included in the National Key R&D Program for Disruptive Technological Innovation. Project Scope and Roadmap: The cooperative project will be implemented in two phases: 1. Phase One: Focused on establishing the integrated R&D and production base within Guofuhee existing facility in Zhangjiagang. This phase will create a comprehensive platform combining research and manufacturing capabilities. 2. Phase Two: Aims to secure "flying land" policy support within the Zhangjiagang Chemical Industrial Park. This will facilitate the full-scale launch of high-volume production for hydrogen-compatible materials, driving industry scaling and development. The project will concentrate on developing, designing production lines, manufacturing, and promoting surface treatment processes for key hydrogen-compatible components like bipolar plates, separator plates, and end plates. Central to this effort is Creative Platech's NCALD technology. This core process promises significant advantages: Enhanced stability and lifespan of plates/components. Reduction in processing costs. Improved electrolyzer performance for greater efficiency and cost reduction. Market Alignment and Expansion Strategy: The high-performance materials produced will first prioritize supplying Guofuhee's existing 3GW domestic electrolyzer production capacity. Concurrently, they will support market development for Guofuhee's initial 3GW overseas production capacity (Phase 1). Building on this foundation, the project will strategically leverage Guofuhee's global network of eight overseas manufacturing bases, targeting a total capacity of 10GW by 2030. Forging Future Pathways: Beyond the core industrial base project, discussions between Guofuhee and Creative Platech yielded an additional strategic agreement. They plan to collaborate with the SYSU Institute of Energy Research on pioneering frontier hydrogen technologies. Specific areas identified include seawater electrolysis for hydrogen production and ultra-low temperature materials. A dedicated Joint Technology R&D Center will be established to shepherd these research projects through the complete cycle: from laboratory bench scale to pilot testing (pilot scale) and ultimately to industrial mass production. These initiatives will be advanced as independent core projects, aiming to position the partners' technologies and industrialization standards at the forefront of international advancement. Strategic Significance: For Guofuhee, this partnership represents a crucial strategic step in integrating key elements of the hydrogen value chain. By enhancing core material performance and optimizing costs, Guofuhee significantly bolsters the competitiveness of its water electrolysis equipment portfolio. Critically, establishing this base serves as a pivotal component in constructing a Global Supply Chain Hub. This hub will provide comprehensive, integrated hydrogen solutions to Guofuhee's domestic and international assembly facilities, reinforcing the company's overall competitiveness in the global hydrogen market. Furthermore, as a major hydrogen-focused collaboration within Zhangjiagang, this joint venture will inject powerful momentum into the local industrial cluster, accelerating the region's progress towards a high-quality, large-scale hydrogen industry.
